Organisational Strategy & Creative Consultancy

Bali’s professional track record extends from his own creative work, to consulting on screen and theatre projects in a dramaturgical and strategic capacity, to career development guidance and strategic business advice. It all started with a passionate desire to see the art & entertainment industry in Australia represent the people on the streets. Through this passionate drive, he led campaigns and strategies to create change in the industry through his work as Chair of MEAA’s Equity Diversity Committee, creating the Screen Diversity Showcase in partnership with Screen Australia, and the Australian Writers’ and Directors’ Guilds.

Marrying creative and strategy, Bali was selected for the inaugural Developing the Developer initiative by Screen Australia, becoming a sought-after story developer and screen project assessor for a number domestic screen funding agencies in Australia, and special creative initiatives for the industry.

Ripples started to spread across the sector and a role at Screen Australia came calling. As Industry Development Executive, Bali oversaw the national funding program for screen business support and career development. Bali brought his unique multi-perspective of the screen and theatre industries to foster opportunities for production Australian companies and creatives, both domestically and internationally. His expertise as a creative consultant, business strategist and mentor is one aspect of his freelance work.

Some of the agencies, organisations and companies Bali works with are:

Diversity Equity & Inclusion

Bali was founding Co-Chair (Nov 2014 - Nov 2016) and Chair (Nov 2016 - Nov 2018) of MEAA’s Equity Diversity Committee and spent his time in this role consulting with Screen Australia, Playwriting Australia, Fremantle Media, Theatre Network NSW, Sydney Arts Management Advisory Group, SAG-AFTRA, MEAA, Equity Foundation, the Australian Writers’ and Directors’ Guilds, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation to generate momentum and change for inclusion of performers that identify as being members of historically excluded and underrepresented communities (First Nations, People of Colour, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Disabled, Women, LGBTQI+, lower socio-economic background).

Under this position, Bali has delivered significant campaigns and programs to address inequalities in participating of key creative professionals and performers in Australia's screen and live performance industries, including the following:

This work continued in his role as Industry Development Executive at Screen Australia, marrying creative project development and production, business development for the screen industry and career development for screen creatives, and now as a creative freelancer.
